Reading the Metro on the tube this morning I saw an interesting article about a ‘life straw’ invented by ‘Mikkel Vestergaard Frandsen’ to enable the inhabitants of developing countries to drink clean water, even if it’s dirty at source. Basically it’s a big tube with various filters inside it to remove micro organisms which spread diarrhoea, dysentery, typhoid etc.as the user sucks up the water.
Previous versions have existed in the Western world for camping purposes but until now nothing cheap enough was around for the 3rd world. I reckon we’ll be hearing a lot more about this over the next year or so, a very clever idea worthy of donations if it helps cut down the 6,000 daily deaths resulting from the consumption of unsafe drinking water.

Could you please tell me where the “LifeStraw” can be purchased. I think it is a terrific idea for travelers to other countries such as Mexico. We do extensive foreign traveling and would like to start using “LifeStraw” as part of our necessary items to take with us.
Thank you
Sincerely
