One of the web development projects I’ve been working on since 2004 is for UK charity - African Child Trust (ACT). Whilst working this morning on their ’soon to be launched’ website, one of the trustees brought to my attention a relatively new search engine called ’Everyclick’. Everyclick does exactly what I’ve been planning to build for years - it takes affiliate revenue and splits it 50/50 with member charities. By using Everyclick and clicking on the pay per click adverts, you or I can generate affiliate revenue for Everyclick - 50% of which goes to our nominated charity! In addition, by using the Amazon search option instead of buying directly from Amazon, we generate even more commission.
As ACT is already Firetop Ltd’s nominated charity I am delighted to announce that I have joined everyclick.com as a corporate supporter. Please help raise money for ACT whenever you search the web or make a purchase from Amazon. Just go to http://www.everyclick.com/uk/firetoplimited - or click through via the banners on this website. It does not cost us, you or the supported charities any money - so it is a great way to help everyday.
This week Everyclick reports the total number of searches carried out on its servers to be 386,630. Not quite Google standards, but quite impressive considering it only started in June 2005. The search results data are provided by Ask (formerly Ask Jeeves) and seem to be of a good standard. I shall endeavour to use it instead of Google as much as possible, especially to make Amazon purchases. Watch the Everyclick video to find out more.

I used to work for the company that provides all of the hosting and infrastructure that Everyclick operates off - The 386,630 searched on September 30th 2006 passed the 1,000,000 mark just before Christmas and has now exceeded 36,564,878 by May 2007 - That’s what you call traffic growth.
Everyclick are now ranked as the 8th largest search engine in the UK and still growing with over £200′000 of money having being passed on to charities.
It will be interesting to see where they end up as this model could easily go global.
