It’s a shame that SurveyMonkey doesn’t have an affiliate program because over the years I’ve set up so many accounts for customers, and recommended it to so many people that I’d have earned a bundle out of it. I’ve been at the top of the testimonials page for about six years now, my only annoyance that the job title matches the one I had years ago and I’ve moved on a long way since then. I’ve asked them to change it three times since but they haven’t… hey ho. I still stand by what I said - I found the tool to be better than Zoomerang not only because it contains the word ‘monkey’.
Essentially, for less than £12 a month ($20) you can build a web survey in less than an hour from a selection of templated question types, fonts, colours and uploaded images. Once you’ve built you first survey, you can duplicate it next time for a speedier build process (assuming roughly the same logos and colours apply). A choice of question types from multiple choice, open text field, options to add pictures or examples with questions are fantastic.
For data collection there’s the option to upload up to 10,000 email addresses and dispatch a survey invite directly from surveymonkey.com - it’ll track who’s completed it and enable a resend for those who haven’t responded yet. Alternatively you can get a standard hyperlink for use in banners, pop-ups or your own emails.
The analysis aspects of SurveyMonkey are also impressive, they can be kept hidden to the administrator or shared on a private URL. The graphic representation of the data is quite addictive to watch once the survey is public and receiving responses. All informaton can be exported in a variety of formats for offline data manipulation - csv, html, xml.
The best bit about SurveyMonkey is that you don’t have to keep paying the monthly £12 to keep the account and captured data alive, just upgrade to ‘professional’ as and when you have a survey to build, otherwise switch back to the free option when you’re done.
