Sony Bravia Ad Facing ‘Terror’ Investigation

As bizarre as it may seem, Sony Bravia’s wonderful advert with exploding multi-coloured paint effects on a housing estate could be subject to an Advertising Standards Authority investigation. This is not because the Rossini theme reminds viewers of Malcolm McDowell in ‘A Clockwork Orange’ beating people up… According to Marketing Week magazine, two people out there think the advert is reminiscent of the September 11th attack in New York and is upsetting. I’ve never heard such a load of old nonsense, surely it’s far more upsetting to watch Friends on C4 and keep seeing the Twin Towers in the background. I would imagine it’s more like the Canary Wharf bomb than the Twin Towers if people want to draw terrorism comparisons, but such a thing would seem ridiculous.
I was surprised to read on the Sony Bravia advert website that it wasn’t all computer animation though. 250 people really did film hundreds of tonnes of non-toxic paint being exploded all over a soon-to-be-demolished housing estate, it took five days to clean up the resulting mess. A wonderfully conceived and coordinated advert, one that I think will make the top ten adverts of all time, beats their previous bouncing balls advert by a mile.

Wow, what fun to of been involved in the production of that advert! Can you imagine… ‘Good day at work dear?’, ‘Yes, not bad - today we threw tonnes of paint over houses’…

The only bad thing of being to that advert production team is trying to get the paint off when going back home! It is hard enough for me to “get clean” after doing DIY! I would surely be walking around looking like a Alien if helped exploding paint on that advert! (I do look like an Alien anyway, now that I come to thin of it)

This advert is for Sony? I thought it was for dulux paint! just goes to show what a naff advert it is.
