So today my wife and I went for the twenty week ultrasound at East Surrey Hospital to check on junior’s progress. Suzie_Q wouldn’t let me find out what the sex is, apparently rather than being able to plan, it’s more exciting to wait until D-Day. However, I think I definitely spotted something which gave away the sex as being a boy whilst the nurse was closely measuring the femur. With legs that are off the ‘above average’ scale it’s certainly looking like being very tall, so either it’s a mini-me or a supermodel. Other male indicators have been the chinese chart (which is apparently correct ninetynine percent of the time) and the needle on a thread direction test - conducted by a non blood relative on sacred ground whilst holding a bible and stroking a black cat…

 In the close up of the ultrasound photo (left) there is clearly something protruding above the clearly defined tail bone (coccyx) at the bottom of the photo. The trouble is, it’s not clear if it’s the giveaway male genitalia or part of the three lines that you’re supposed to look for to spot a girl. I’m 75% certain it’s a boy - so Bob Engelbert Peskett here we come. The scan today turned into ’scans’ because Bob wouldn’t perform for the camera, Suzie_Q and I had to take a stroll to the staff restaurant to get some chocolate which did the trick nicely for scan number two. Everything fine and on schedule for a nice healthy baby.

I was mildly amused at the inefficiency of the receptionist in the Ultrasound department, the phone was ringing for a good five minutes before it was answered - annoying for all those sitting around listening to it ring and ring and ring. On the other end was, I’m sure, somebody thinking ‘That Ultrasound department are busy this morning’ - however, I’ve ‘YouTubed’ just how busy she was! Strangely there didn’t seem to be as many pregnant women waiting got ultrasounds as there was for the twelve week scan, so who knows where the receptionist got to.
