I’ve always found Gordon Brown’s strange chin dropping action as he inhales to be quite irritating, even Rory Bremner with his great attention to detail has never been shy of imitating the jaw drop at the start of each sentence. I noticed yesterday that during his first Prime Ministerial speech outside Number Ten, the ‘chin thing’ had gone. I was quite pleased, I’m guessing that Gordon’s had some coaching on that and been told to close his mouth promptly at the end of each statement. Whilst seeking out a picture of the old chin in action, I came across something far more disturbing - a video of Gordon Brown seemingly picking his nose and eating the contents whilst seated in the House of Commons.
Take a look at this video if you can bear it, it’s actually quite amusing but does seem to be odd behaviour for a man on television in full view of a Nation of onlookers. Let’s hope the body language coach rapped his knuckles for this one too… yuck!

mmm I’d always thought of it as a jaw locking thing but it irritates the hell out of me too. I find myself trying to guess the moment he will do it, and trying to work out if there are certain initial phonemes or particular sounds that bring it on because it isn’t always at the beginning of a sentence. I also wondered if he had a stutter and that by locking his jaw it prevented the sssssstammer.Who knows. Its what makes Gordon Gordon.

ps couldn’t bear to watch the nose picking thing - see enough of that.

Ugh that’s horrible! He looks like a little school boy picking his nose but I get the impression that he was doing it without realising. Perhaps he does it when he feels insecure, unsure of himself, a ‘throw back’ to some pressure from school perhaps?
Re the jaw thing he was still doing that yesterday. I thought he did it when he finished a sentence, not before.

Um I think that might be the same thing S, except when he’s finished speaking altogether and I don’t think he does do it then. He definately does it in the middle of sentences … at the end of phrases maybe?

Thank God I am not alone in being irritated by this man’s disgraceful public image. It has come to the stage where I can no longer view him (I have resorted to switching channels immediately for fear of him performing some disgusting act which will further embarrass the British people). Please – if any of this man’s advisors ever read this, please train this man how to “act like a world leader rather than a naughty school boy who sneaks a pick at every available opportunity.
Filthy man – and please sort out the idiotic jaw performance too!
