Maria Madison Peskett Arrives - Finally!

So Tuesday was quite a long day, after 48 hours of waiting in hospital post waters breaking, Suzie_Q called me at 7:30am to tell me to get over ASAP. Then about half an hour later she called me again to tell me I wasn’t allowed in until 9am, so I went to MacDonald’s for breakfast en-route. Around 8:45am I got in to see my wife at the delivery suite and met the mid-wife. We had so many mid-wives and doctors that day that I lost track of how many we saw, I’d say over the three days we’ve seen three doctors, two registrars and fourteen mid-wives. It’s quite stressful because at each change over you want to keep them updated on progress, which I’m sure is annoying for them all, but makes you feel safe.
I won’t go on about all the intricacies of the decisions except to say that having been induced at about 1pm we aimed for an almost natural birth but the whole NCT birthing plan was laughed out of the room by the midwife. Having struggled with contractions for eight hours (both Sue and baby) neither were making much progress and at 9:30pm we were forced into an emergency cesarean section and rushed to the operating theatre. This was a pretty scary moment, the most frightening of both mine and Suzie_Q’s lives. However, once in theatre all went well and a little daughter emerged into the world.
An inquisitive head covered in black hair, on a face that looks as beautiful as my wife’s, definitely Italian genes and named Maria after her much missed Italian Great Grandmother. The chosen middlename ‘Madison’ injects a bit of the modern world into the completed ‘Maria Madison Peskett’. Both mother and baby are doing very well, I’ve just returned from the hospital after being kicked out, sleeping pattern’s completely shot - so I’m blogging to wear myself out! We’re so pleased for you both, she is absolutely gorgeous. She certainly has picked up Sue’s colouring but i’m afraid to say it does look like she has got the famous Peskett Chin!! Love to all of you x

What lovely comments to come home to, thanks all. Spent the day with Sue and Maria, both are well but Sue obviously in some discomfort now that the drugs are wearing off! I’ll be arranging an official visiting rota tomorrow assuming Sue’s more up to it (less sleepy). We expect her to be kept in until the weekend rather than kicked out on day two like the lucky naturals. J Whizz I will email you the pics now.

Well, its Friday pm, this is the second set of a group of 4 friends who seem to all be dropping little ones at the moment. I’m going to go back through the TV guides 9 months ago…. Must have been crap TV during those weeks! “Do we go out? Do we watch TV? oh no, its crap, get the kettle on then lets make a Baby”…Heehee. Seriously though, this is great news for such a lovely couple and I have to agree with the comments about the name, Little Maddy, hmmm, sweet ! Well done Peskett Family, she looks gorgeous. Enjoy as I’m sure you will. Did you know Matt that Scalectric do the track in Pink?
