Development (PHP/MYSQL)
Over the past six years we’ve developed numerous Websites for our clients, some with Content Management Systems to let customers edit content themselves… and some without. We’ve built large Websites with many pages, single page Websites with specific conversion purposes, Websites with databases to capture information and Websites built solely for search engine optimisation (although all our Web projects make that a consideration).
We don’t have a full portfolio of everything we’ve ever done because, to be frank, sites that we built five years ago already look pretty dated against current functionality standards and we can’t see the point of showing you those. Instead, on this page we have highlighted some of the more recent Web projects that we have worked on. We hope that the examples we have showcased below give a general idea of the kinds of Web projects we can help with when it comes to Open Source web development.
www.spearhead-training.com
Spearhead Gulf LLC are a business training company in the United Arab Emirates. We have recently redesigned their Website which features over sixty training courses, enables delegates to make online bookings and includes a custom build CMS enabling full content editing of static and dynamic content. The site is built with PHP/MYSQL and incorporates our SEO management modules. AJAX has been used to handle a popular dynamic ‘Find a course’ menu feature.
www.meat-prices.co.uk
This Website is an off-shoot of a daily news Website (meatinfo.co.uk) for William Reed Business Media. Our brief was to follow their existing template style and create a commodity pricing structure for the UK meat industry. The site has a custom built CMS enabling manual price modifications to be made as well as taking data from a regular FTP data feed. In addition to PHP and MYSQL, AJAX was used to display full screen graphs or pricing trends.
www.printer-repairs.net
This is less of a Website and more of a conversion landing page, built specifically with pay per click advertising (PPC) in mind. It was designed to feature the key elements that would appeal to the target audience and includes a simple email form, whilst also storing data in a MYSQL database. The client – Lyndon Copiers Ltd has been overwhelmed by the success of this page.
www.estateagencystaff.co.uk
A recruitment Website for Estate Agency Staff Ltd, this Website enables job postings, candidate applications and also features an RSS feed of latest job postings. The CMS was custom built in PHP and MYSQL by Firetop developers and has since been used on other recruitment Websites that we have worked on.
www.findabutcher.co.uk
Another Website offshoot of William Reed Business Media’s meat news website meatinfo.co.uk; a simple directory website featuring a database of approximately 1000 UK butchers against the UK postal code database and incorporating Google maps. A rudimentary admin system enables data management via a CSV upload process. Butchers themselves can submit their own shop for manual approval by staff at William Reed.
www.mostlymaps.com
Mostlymaps.com was designed and built in 2005. It enables the client to upload unique one-off products from their internal database (as per their real world gallery of antique maps and prints) and automatically thumbnails scanned images for the Web. SEO plays an important part of this Website’s success story – enabling each product to be found by Google, rather than unindexable dynamic URLs in a single template.
www.cstore-insurance.co.uk
A lead generation microsite built in PHP, this website for Convenience Store magazine’s insurance offering enables end users to request insurance quotations online. Content is edited via FTP access to some basic include files. Quotation requests are stored in a MYSQL database and data passed to the brokers at William Reed Business Media.
